Ramallah – A group of young women
participating in the "Young Women
for Awareness, Agency, Advocacy, and Accountability (YW4A) programme
held a meeting with representatives from Palestine General
Federation of Trade Unions to discuss efforts and developments
related to combating harassment in the workplace.

attended by representatives from partner organizations involved in the programme,
which is implemented by the YWCA of
Palestine in partnership with the Psychosocial Counseling
Center for Women (PSCCW), Al-Harah
Theater, YWCA Jerusalem, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the
Holy Land.
The discussion
focused on key topics aimed at enhancing protection in workplaces, particularly
in unregistered establishments.
Participants
recommended the implementation of
clear internal regulations and policies in workplaces to
protect workers, especially in unregistered businesses, ensuring a safe working
environment for all. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with the Ministry of Labor
and the Federation of Trade Unions to achieve an effective and
sustainable impact in addressing workplace harassment.
An agreement was
reached to unify efforts to activate
the "Tawq" mobile application as a tool to support
workers and to promote an effective
complaint system.
This meeting is part of a series of discussions held by young women participating in the programme with decision-makers and relevant institutions.
Recently, the
young women also held a discussion session with Minister of Labor Dr. Enas Al-Atari at the Ministry’s
headquarters in Ramallah, focusing on workplace
harassment and ways to create a safe working environment for women and young
women in Palestine.
The discussion
addressed measures to prevent
harassment at work and the
importance of cooperation between the government and civil society
organizations to unify efforts in this field. An agreement was
made to form a technical committee in
collaboration with the Ministry of Labor to follow up on
workplace harassment issues.
The strategic objective of the (YW4A) programme
is to advocate for young women's rights to dignity, physical safety, and equal participation in decision-making
while expanding these rights through the implementation
of public policies and laws that promote gender justice.
The program
includes legal papers and community
initiatives developed by young women to address issues such as youth political participation, child marriage,
workplace harassment, domestic violence, and more.
