YWCA Bethlehem Concludes a Training Course on Embroidery Skills

Bethlehem-The YWCA for Development in Bethlehem concluded a training course on embroidery skills as part of the "Naseej" project, which is implemented by the YWCA Palestine with funding from the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and with technical support by UNWomen.

A group of women and young women from the Bethlehem Governorate participated in the course, which took place between August and September 2024 and included 16 training hours, both theoretical and practical, over 8 days. The instructor was Ms. Reda Banoura, a specialized trainer in the field of embroidery.

Certificates were distributed to the participants in the course during a visit organized by the association to the Palestinian Heritage Center and the Bible College in Bethlehem, which included interactive activities for psychological relief and a discussion session on the association’s work plan for the next stage, which aims to activate membership and reach women and youth to integrate them into existing and future activities and projects.

The “Naseej” project aims to empower and enhance the role of women in the decision-making process in the field of responding to and preventing various forms of gender-based violence, and to involve women and young women as community mediators in the early national response, in preparation for community work based on young leaders, enhancing their role in empowering communities, and improve access to justice and security in their communities.

WPHF is a flexible and rapid financing tool supporting quality interventions to enhance the capacity of local women to prevent conflict, respond to crises and emergencies, and seize key peacebuilding opportunities.

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Since 1997, UN Women has been supporting Palestinian women in achieving their social, economic, and political rights.
